ABSTRACT

A biography is an account of a person's life written by another person. The short biographies of people can be found in books such as Who's Who, on the internet websites and in encyclopaedias. This chapter presents a biography of Korky Paul who worked for several years in advertising before becoming a full-time children's book illustrator. He is known for his illustrations of Winnie the Witch by Valerie Thomas, which won the Children's Book Award in 1985. He has illustrated many other children's books, including poetry books such as Dinosaur Poems and Dragon Poems. As part of an art project they could research a particular artist, such as Monet, and write an entry for a biographical dictionary similar to the one on Korky Paul. Alternatively, they could focus on a musician as part of a music project.
