ABSTRACT

The second type of communication in our classification scheme is bidirectional communication. We define bidirectional communication as any communication in which a sender can share information and the receivers (one or many) can share their own information with the sender, but not with other receivers. We first review how bidirectional communication has been used historically in China and for what purpose, and then we discuss how such communication is used today. Finally, we discuss challenges associated with bidirectional communication. In the Road Ahead, we discuss the future of bidirectional communication in China.
