ABSTRACT

One challenge people face in working with difficult teachers is knowing specifically how and when to address them about their inappropriate actions. Being able to choose the most opportune and effective time is essential. If people do not handle the initial contact in an appropriate manner, they potentially escalate the situation and it can even become a school-wide issue. Many of the less valued teachers' inappropriate behaviors regularly recur. However, do not feel the need to rush or to immediately address them regarding the issue. It is also important to determine the best place to visit with offending staff. One of their methods of making themselves comfortable could be to put on their emotional shield. They could sincerely ask the union officials if they would feel more comfortable if they documented the staff behavior. It is difficult to respond in the negative and you also continue to reinforce that people were doing this as a way to support the teacher.
