ABSTRACT
Standards 4–6 focus on the question: Why did the author choose to make particular choices? How do choices about language, organization, and point of view affect meaning? Many teachers have not delved into these features of text, and may find that the considerations inherent in these Reading Standards do take comprehension to an unexplored level.
