ABSTRACT

Autodesk Maya provides various innovative modeling techniques that can be adopted in architectural design to produce parametric forms, such as Blend, Skeleton System, nHair, nCloth, and Particle System. Morphing, called blending in Maya, is one of these tools. Set Driven Key is a Maya animation tool that can be used to set up a parametric relationship between attributes from one or multiple objects. Morphing is the concept of changing an image from one to another, or manipulating the 3-D geometric transition between two static models. 2-D images can be blended by mathematically combining the transparency values and red/green/blue (RGB) values from multiple images on the pixel level. The 3-D morphing technique is widely used in motion pictures to create special effects such as transforming a character from one appearance into another. The Maya Blend tool provides a graphic interface with a weight slider to control the morphing process, which is one of its unique advantages compared to other morphing processes.
