ABSTRACT

The rapid pace of change in today's world demands continuous learning for ongoing development and performance improvement. For example, you and your employees will need to learn new behaviors as you respond to changes in the environment, shifting circumstances, and new expectations. As a manager, you can help your employees become continuous learners by working with them to set meaningful work and career goals, coaching them to enhance their performance and expand their professional growth, and encouraging your employees to engage in and providing opportunities for training and development. Transformative learning includes engaging in deep reflection, critical analysis, and deconstruction followed by a rebuilding. Learning in general is the process of gaining new skills, knowledge, and perceptions of the world. Team learning is 'the extent to which members seek opportunities to develop new skills and knowledge, welcome challenging assignments, are willing to take risks on new ideas, and work on tasks that require considerable skill and knowledge'.
