Child guidance and parenting: The psychoeducational approach of Rudolf Dreikurs

The role of a psychoeducational therapist is similar to that of a teacher who teaches pedagogical and interpersonal skills and who facilitates self-help and the possibilities of growing. A psychoeducational therapist has a preventive function and does not wait until a pathological process has taken place, but starts on an educational basis, by teaching more efficient pedagogical techniques to parents and teachers in order to avoid a psychopathological development of smaller behavioural problems.
