ABSTRACT

I had the privilege of leading an ongoing men’s therapy group. Several sets of men had cycled through and improved. They were more clear about their career goals, and those who struggled with alcohol problems had achieved stable sobriety. Many group members reported an improvement in their general mood and outlook. When each man left the group, he was able to say what he had gained through the group experience. In general, I felt good about the thera peutic experience that being in the group gave to these men. It is still surprising to me that an experience as simple as talking openly and honestly to other men can be so healing.
