ABSTRACT
Until recently the starting point of the design of any new soccer shoe was based on the low cut, soft leather upper boot with polyurethane or aluminium studs designed in the 1960s. In recent years moulded blade sole units have evolved, some claiming to increase performance, some to reduce injury risk. However, these claims are not reinforced by data in the scientific literature.
