Sports injuries and physical fitness in adolescent soccer players
This chapter produces a new methodology to analyse the attacking moves and more specifically the transition between two configurations of play in the attack/defence system to emphasise the importance of time in soccer. To examine movement of players and ball transition between two configurations of play, the position, the type of move and the speed of the players are first registered, with a video recorder. The chapter analyses the goal of Jensen scored at 19 minutes in Denmark - Germany match in the final of the European soccer championship in Sweden. The most difficult task in method so far has been to spot exactly the location and to determine the orientation of each player. When the pitch sizes are different, the grid is adjusted to the dimensions given by Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) for the presentation of the European Championship in Sweden. The concepts of sector of play and sector intervention can be used to model the attacks.
