ABSTRACT
The cartoon (Figure 4.1) illustrates to me the central issue in supervision – the nature of the relationship between supervisor and supervisee. How did our relationship come into being? What are our responsibilities for the task? What are the constraints? What are my fantasies about my supervisor or supervisee? How scary is it going to be? In this chapter I aim to explore some of these questions and raise matters for consideration both that have been of importance to me and that are highlighted in the supervision literature.
