ABSTRACT

In this concluding chapter we should like first briefly to summarize the empirical aspects of our study; and to state tentatively some hypotheses suggested by the empirical data. Secondly, we should like to take up the threads of theoretical analysis mentioned in the first chapter and discuss the two principal problems we there called attention to, in the light of the material of the intervening chapters. These, the reader will remember, were the relations of personality, social system and culture, and the process of differentiation.
