ThissecondofthetwoequalitieswhichconstituteswhatPlatoherecalls 'politicaljustice'(andwhatAristotlecalls'distributivejustice'),andwhich isdescribedbyPlato(andAristotle)as'proportionateequality'- thetruest, best,andmostnaturalequality-waslatercalled'geometrical'(Gorgias 508a;seealso465b/c,andPlutarch,Moralia719bf.),asopposedtothe loweranddemocratic'arithmetical'equality.Onthisidentification,the remarksunder(2)maythrowsomelight.
