ABSTRACT

In this chapter, it would be nice if we could tie everything together in a nice neat little package; but that is not possible. It has never been the aim of the book to present a new theory complete or incomplete. Rather we have tried to discuss some old problems in order to understand the present status of the concept of motivation. In an intensive study of the concept with special reference to human motivation and behavior, it has become clear that the concept of motivation has no place in a strictly objective science of behavior. This is so because; try as we may, we can never completely objectify the concept of motivation.
