Primary Anorexia Nervosa in the Male and Female: A Comparison of Clinical Features and Prognosis

This chapter draws on two reported studies of the comparison between male and female anorectics. In 1986, Crisp et al. reported a comparison of presentation and long term follow-up characteristics of 36 males and 102 females. In 1987, Fichter and Daser described and compared presentation characteristics of 29 male and 23 female cases of primary anorexia nervosa.
