ABSTRACT
Many abusive parents were victims of child abuse. Their normal cycle of development was interrupted by conflict and trauma leaving them unable to make normal adult adjustments to the role of parent. This outpatient treatment model describes a psychoeducational approach to helping abusive parents acquire skills that are absent as a result of deficits in their childhood development.
