Programs, Interventions, and Strategies
There is a wide range of interventions used by adult day care centers in the treatment of the elderly and the disabled. These inter ventions include physical therapy, speech therapy, audiology, real ity orientation, remotivation therapy, art therapy, and reminiscence therapy. Each has a special contribution to make to the well-being of the participant. For example, physical therapy helps the partici pant begin his/her return to independence. Speech therapy and audi ology help restore communication abilities. Reality orientation is based on the principle that repeated orientations to the environment will reduce disorientation; while remotivation therapy, reminis cence therapy, art therapy, and recreational therapy are concerned with general psychosocial functioning.
