ABSTRACT

The purpose of this report is to describe the development and function of an outpatient geropsychiatry evaluation clinic at Sepulveda Veterans Administration Medical Center. The team structure, evaluation instrument and processes are described with emphasis on the occupational therapist’s use of Pfeiffer’s Fundamental Assessment Inventory segment on Physical and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living and Matsutsusyu’s Neuropsychiatric Institute Interest Check List. The occupational therapist on the outpatient geropsychiatry evaluation team assesses function and interest in vocational, avocational and daily living activities.
