ABSTRACT
Care that reaches out from love, reaches out on all levels. Physically, it understands that a body lovingly groomed and cared for feels good inside and out, regardless of how infirm or bedridden a family member may be. Laundry services are available in all homes, but that is usually the extent of clothing care. Family members that are committed to being an integral part of their elder's care within the nursing home setting, are the families that insure no needs go unmet. If the family member is incontinent, it is most critical to monitor closely the skin in the genital area. Family and friends can administer to the skin care needs, improve circulation, and express love through touch. Coupling touch with stroking, and rubbing warm lotions and oils is a special form of two-way communication.
