Development of the Comrey Personality Scales: An Example of the Use of Factor Analysis

One of the common uses of factor analysis mentioned in the last chapter occurs in the development of psychological tests. This chapter presents an illustration of the use of factor analysis for this purpose, describing the factor analytic studies involved in the development and validation of the Comrey Personality Scales (Comrey, 1970a, 1970b, 1980), an inventory of factored personality traits.
