ABSTRACT
Butcher (1988) suggests that alcoholism is one of the most prevalent and destruc tive social problems facing Western Civilization. Although the etiology of this problem continues to be debated in the literature, its path of destruction may be seen in the physical, familial, social, occupational, and legal difficulties of the alcoholic.
