ABSTRACT

There often comes a time when our jaded palates tire even of the best of the things we are used to. We sigh for something new. Nature in her wisdom has arranged that some of her exquisite products, like asparagus, peas, strawberries and truffles, should only have a brief season, while the science of Man, no doubt to atone for laws which sometimes prohibit other delicacies, brings to our doors quickly and safely all the treasures of other countries.
