ABSTRACT
“Aziyade, being extracts from the notes and letters of an English naval officer in the Turkish service, killed before Kars, 27th October, 1877”—such was the title of Julien Viaud’s first published book. With a shyness characteristic of him in early life, he did not let it appear over his signature. It was published by Calmann-Levy in January, 1879.
