ABSTRACT

As the occupation of Wajh on the 25th of January, 1917, had brought the first phase of the Revolt to a close, so the capture of ‘Aqaba in the following July marks the beginning of the last and most spectacular phase – the Arab drive towards Damascus. The intervening months were a period of sporadic military activity in each of the three Arab camps, and of intense political preparation for the advance to the north.
