ABSTRACT
This chapter describes underwater photography, together with a few useful tips, which may be of help to the visitor to the Red Sea area who might be stimulated to try his hand. There are diving schools or diving organisations in several towns in Saudi Arabia, including in particular Jeddah, and also in most of the other large coastal towns in other countries bordering the Red Sea. The one factor which has led to several diving fatalities in the Red Sea is the tendency of divers coming recently from colder waters to assume, because of the much brighter lighting at depth, that they are much nearer the surface than they actually are. Wet suit tops may be useful during November to May and the complete suit during January to March, especially in the Gulf of Aqaba where the water is not quite as warm as in the central Red Sea.
