ABSTRACT

The foregoing chapters describe and analyze in detail the organizational responses of each school and college to the issue of diversity. In this chapter, I compare and contrast the institutional environments confronted by each organization, the internal organizational characteristics that interact with these arrangements, and the response dynamics that produce an identifiable program, plan, initiative, or effort related to diversity. I also present several new themes that emerged through data collection, and I comment on a number of unexpected developments or observations. My summary presents final thoughts on the cross-case comparisons.
