InwestemcivilizationtheyearsAD1600-1900markoffwhatmay perhapsbecalledtheAgeofScientificDualism.Theretookrootthen forthefirsttimeinthehistoryoftheworld,itseems,acertainoversimplifiedworld-view,whichwecannowappreciatewasnecessary forthedevelopmentofthenaturalsciences,butwhichwasfatalfor anytrulyintegralviewofhumanlifeandexperience.Hencearose numerouspseudo-problems,thestudyofwhichhasnodoubthelped intheendtocleartheair.
