ABSTRACT

During the latter months of 1979 and early 1980 the Commission for Racial Equality (CRE) in conjunction with the Arts Council of Great Britain and Gulbenkian Foundation sponsored a series of five conferences 1 at different venues in England, Scotland and Wales. They focused on ‘Arts Education in a Multicultural Society’ through the presentation of what was identified as ‘good practice’ in the different art forms. Each conference presented case studies showing how the various art forms might be used in the classroom.
