By the end of this chapter you should:

Be able to apply basic methods of numerical and statistical reasoning to a given body of evidence or data.

Understand both what is meant by and how to apply terms such as ‘percentage’, ‘average’ (‘mean’ and ‘median’) and ‘simple probability’ to the above information.

Be able to read and interpret commonly used graphs and charts such as bar charts, pie charts, line and scattergraphs, flow charts, tree diagrams and Venn and Carroll diagrams.
