ABSTRACT
Many of the patients to be described in this chapter also satisfy one or more criteria for a distress disorder given in the previous chapter. A minority do not, but neither can a satisfactory physical aetiology be demonstrated. We have already mentioned that most patients with these disorders consult their doctors for somatic symptoms.
