ABSTRACT
A strong theme that runs through the objects in the Sainsbury Collection is the way in which the human figure is represented, and in particular the many ways in which the human face is portrayed. Some of the faces are very realistic and some are stylised, highly distorted, or have exaggerated features. This prompted me to consider the images of faces that children see in their daily lives and whether their perception of faces in life is affected by those images.
