ABSTRACT

In his article on ‘Historical Perspectives and Methodologies: Their Relevance for Housing Studies?’, Keith Jacobs notes how housing research has begun to explore social science methodologies but has largely ignored ‘historical research and its associated methodologies’. He also notes that

most housing academics make reference to some history in their research. This often takes the form of a short discussion at the start in the form of an introduction to the main study. The purpose of these historical introductions is usually to set out the context for the research and provide a chronology but little else.
