Combined transport is often used synonymously with intermodal transport and multimodal transport, although these three expressions can be distinguished. Through transport can also be distinguished from the others. There are two main distinctions: first, the precise modes of transport used and, secondly, to what extent the provider of the service is deemed to be the carrier.This tends to identify the party responsible for the goods during the voyage.
