Phonemic Deafness in Infancy and Acquisition of Written Language

In 1957 Landau and Kleffner described an acquired language disorder in children consisting of severe aphasia and epileptic seizures. Behavioural disturbances are sometimes reported. In all cases severe paroxysmal EEG abnormalities, usually diffuse, are present.
