ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses Olmtz Agreement between Austria and Prussia, 29 November 1850. The governments of Austria and Prussia declare their intention finally and definitively to resolve the Hessian and Holstein affairs by means of a common decision of all German states. Taking into consideration that it is in the general interest that in both Kurhesse and Holstein there be created a situation in conformity with the law and confederal obligations, the two governments of Austria and Prussia have agreed the following: Prussia will place no obstacles in the way of troops invited into the state by the Elector. The two governments and their allies will ask the Elector to keep a batallion of Hessian and a batallion of Prussian troops in Cassel to maintain law and order. A second part of the agreement regulates the way in which troops will be demobilised, first by Prussia and then by Austria and its allies.
