ABSTRACT

The Prince Regent describes policy discussions to the Prussian Foreign Minister. The Council in its sitting today under his chairmanship determined to set out clearly the present position of Europe and to survey Prussias policy in relation to it. All were agreed that France, with its unpredictable Emperor, was the Power that was the source of danger to Europe, Germany, and Prussia. The Minister von Schleinitz developed the view that, since he, with the whole Council, recognized France as the source of danger, any intimate connection with her in order to improve Prussias position in Germany must be repudiated. The remaining members of the Council declared themselves, for the reasons adduced above, against such an alliance and also against any alteration of Prussias German policy. Some even urged that Prussias German policy should be taken to its logical conclusion, that she should not jib at a breach between subjects and governments.
