ABSTRACT
This book has presented both my own definitions of languagelearner strategies as well as those of my colleagues in the field. What I learned from the survey that I took of world experts on the topic was
they do not necessarily agree on the terminology. Perhaps this is part and
parcel of what academics are all about – constantly striving to improve on
the concepts that we hold about the phenomena in our environment. The
questions that I would pose are:
1. To what extent have terminological refinements improved our
understanding as to just what constitutes good language learning?
