Keeping the vision alive
The aim of the activities in ‘Keeping the vision alive’ is to extend the vision and to deepen the sense of an L2 identity. The activities here are designed to be used in parallel with the goal-setting activities in ‘Mapping the journey’, to appeal to the aff ective as well as the cognitive side of language learning and to keep the learner in touch with the initial vision. There are two strands to ‘Keeping the vision alive’:
• Developing identity, where the aim is to keep in touch with the vision, to develop it in more detail and make sure that it is not lost in the day-to-day business of attending to the learning of various aspects of the language such as doing grammar exercises or writing essays.
