Enjoyment of the learning experience

In this fi nal section we look at the ‘third pillar’ of the L2 Motivational Self System: the enjoyment of the learning experience. This section lists a variety of strategies and techniques that the teacher can use to motivate students, in contrast to the procedures described in the previous chapters to help students to fi nd inner motivation through vision. This is obviously a huge area, one which has been treated fully in Zoltán’s book on Motivational strategies in the language classroom (2001), so we will only give an outline here but provide a selection of useful of further reading at the end.
