Frances Baard describes how women organised to protest the pass laws, 1956

Frances Baard, born in 1901 in Kimberley, worked as a domestic servant and teacher before becoming active in the ANC. She helped organise the 1952 Defiance Campaign, and helped in drafting the 1955 Freedom Charter. Here she describes how she and other women pooled resources to pay for their march on Pretoria in 1956.
