ABSTRACT

It is widely accepted that ICT should argue to be at the core of the primary curriculum. Teachers are encouraged to continue to teach ICT discretely in order to ensure that essential skills and know ledge are developed and to capture and enhance these skills through the application of ICT across the whole curriculum. The children's pride in their work and sense of ownership is a testament to the success of the project. The case study exemplifies how DT and ICT studies can be combined in a cross-curricular project to meet many of the objectives from these areas of learning. In this school, the balance of topics throughout the year had been carefully planned and had already covered: Geography and Art through a rainforest topic, History and English through a focus on the Romans. The history and rainforest topics had both involved research on the internet, but in the robots topic the ICT objectives would be of higher priority.
