Professional practice: creating effective and stimulating opportunities for learning
This chapter introduces some first principles involved in planning episodes of learning and teaching. It is presented as an introduction to support your skills as a practitioner while at the same time requiring you, through the set tasks, to think more philosophically about the principles involved in learning and teaching. Completion of the tasks will help those new to teaching, tutoring or training to develop new skills in preparation for the initial award. For the newly appointed, the tasks will provide opportunities for the collection of evidence that might be used as part of the licence to practise portfolio. For the experienced, the portfolio tasks will enable you to confirm and provide evidence of your existing experience and expertise.
