ABSTRACT
The trappings of Jacobitism were the objects, poems, ballads, broad-sheets, pictures, prints and organisations that gave the English Jacobites a corporate identity. Replete with symbols, these proclaimed an
allegiance, either openly through the representation of a member of the
Stuart family in exile, or secretly through hidden meaning such as the
rose with two buds (James III and his two sons).
