The Indian-Queen, a Tragedy was first printed in Sir Robert Howard's Four New Plays, published by Henry Herringman in 1665, reprinted in his Five New Plays (1692). An operatic version, with music by Henry and Daniel Purcell, was produced in 1695, this had additional songs, of uncertain authorship, which were printed in The Songs in the Indian Queen (1695). Song was printed with Purcell's music in Deliciae Musicae (1696) and Orpheus Britannicus (1698). The play was so beautified with rich scenes as the like had never ben seen here as happily on a mercenarie Theater.
