Date and publication. There is no record o f the revival, but the topical refer ences in the Epilogue (11. 39-400, 44n, 47n) point to a date in December 1666. (Danchin suggests April 1667 and Winn 183 suggests May, after the success o f Secret Love.) After the Fire o f London public theatrical performances were resumed on 29 November 1666 (LS). The entry o f the play in SR on 7 August 1667 also suggests that the play may have been staged in its revised form some months earlier.
