ABSTRACT
The four key parts of a verb as given in dictionaries are:
Do (I give) present tense
Dare (to give) the infinitive
Dedi (I gave) past or perfect tense
Datum: this part, the supine, is not much used, but is given because two participles are formed from it:
Past participle: by changing the m to s, datus, meaning ‘given’, or ‘having been given’, which then agrees with nouns, and declines like predictus: datus, -a, -um.
Future participle: by changing the m to rus, daturus (-a, -um), meaning ‘about to give’.
