ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the EU’s relations with other countries. It concentrates on EU relations with the USA, with Russia and with 79 African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries that were previously colonies of EU member states. This treatment is necessarily selective in view of the numerous and wide variety of EU ties with countries throughout the world. Nevertheless, our examination of EU relations with the USA, Russia and the ACP countries captures much of the breadth and variable depth of the EU’s relations with the wider world and covers many of the issues and problems involved in these relations.
