These writings date from 1787 to 1793, when Jane Austen was aged from eleven to seventeen. They include short novels, sketches, batches of fictional letters, playlets, and, written when she was sixteen, ‘A History of England from the reign of Henry 4th to the death of Charles the first By a partial, prejudiced, and ignorant historian’.
