Differentiate between pre-cast and in situ formwork.

State the principles which govern the design of formwork.

Illustrate by sketches and scale drawings the formwork required for the in situ casting of floors, beams, columns and walls.

State the function and requirements of an arch centre.

Illustrate by sketches and scale drawings the construction of centres for segmental, semi-elliptical and semi-circular arches up to 3.000 m span.

State the reasons for the use of shoring.

Describe the construction, erection and dismantling of raking and dead shores.

Calculate the reactions at the points of support in a dead shore system.
