ABSTRACT
Not all parts of the earth’s surface are heated equally by the sun. Variation in latitude and the fact that land masses experience more rapid and more extreme changes in temperature than the sea, cause air temperature gradients which lead to the atmospheric density and pressure differences which result in global air movement or wind. The revolution of the earth about the sun and the rotation of the earth about its own axis cause the seasonal and diurnal weather patterns respectively.
